RV Life Updates (Behind The Scenes)
There is no good place for me to make this little RV Life Updates video right now. It is pouring down rain outside, but I feel like I owe this to you. And we have some furry friends joining us. This is behind the scenes of my RV life. I’m Blogging Brandi. Welcome to RVersity! I just felt like I really needed to make this video for you because It’s been a minute since I’ve given you some updates and there’s so much that’s going on.
My Content Is Out Of Sequence
I kind of feel like my content is out of whack, out of line because you probably haven’t met some of our fur babies that we’ve rescued because we have six of them and two RVs. There’s So much that I just feel like I need to tell you and there’s a reason why I’ve been staying at Nanny and Meme’s Lake House.
I’m In A Different Location (almost daily)
The RV Van is actually outside. One of them is outside and our other RV is on the other side of the lake. Cause right now we’re. at the trailer park. I think people get kind of weird about that when I call it a trailer park versus an RV park. I really am at the trailer park mobile home park right now because Nanny and Meme’s lake house is a trailer.
And then we do have a trailer, an RV trailer, as in one that you can tow with you. Yet, It stays stationary. We never move it. We kind of refer to the place that it’s at as a trailer park as well because pretty much everybody there has a trailer and it often feels more like what you would consider a trailer park than where I’m at now.
My Apologies If These RV Life updates are all over the place
Again, it’s pouring down right now outside. I’ve got a lot going on. I’m trying to get this video out to you because I have interruptions coming in and out. So, if this video doesn’t make it out in one piece and I have to record it in a different place, I did really try to make updates. and put this on my computer because I wanted to make this as formal as I could since….
PSA: I read ALL of my comments!
I do read your comments and people made some comments recently that almost made me push pause on putting out my content because it made me just feel as if my content is so out of line. Again, I do read your comments on my content! Some of them are beautiful and nice and then some of them are not so nice.
I do want to hear your comments.
Please make sure as you’re watching this RV Life updates video to drop them below. Let me know what questions you have. Also if you like this video and behind the scenes of my RV life updates, Please be sure to hit the like button below, subscribe to my channel, and tap that little bell icon so you’re notified each and every time I publish a new video.
Sometimes the comments make me pause & think
I was reading through my comments and it did make me kind of pause and think: “Okay, how am I portraying myself and my RV life?”
Examples
Some of the comments on the pros and cons of my stationary RV living.
NICE Comments
Comment: “This video is so helpful. I’m moving soon and I’m considering an RV park. By the way, your smile at xyz seconds is so sweet. You look so pretty. It’s a nice photo.” ~ Those are really beautiful comments. I love to hear things like that. Thank you!
Comment: “Pretty much described exactly what I was thinking it will be like so now it’s almost made me even more sure” ~ That one’s a weird one. We’ll let that one go.
Comment: “The takeaway I got from all this was buying used is better than buying new because all the kinks will be worked out in a used one.”
Comment: “Love Petunia.” We love her too. You’ll have to meet her soon.
Comment: “Thank you. I’m 95% sure. This is what I’ll want to be doing. RVing isn’t just for meth heads anymore. With this economy as a single person, this is all I can afford.” — And that’s not necessarily true, but it’s kind of funny reading some of these comments. I’m not gonna lie.
Comment: “I’m having an issue about wanting to get a travel trailer for stationary. Weighed the pros and cons, apartment living versus travel trailer, but I’m in Henry County and work in Atlanta. Atlanta’s RV parks look sketch.” ~ I went through this same process! And so again, why I want to share my RV life with you is because I know that other people are trying to learn from this.
UGLY Comments
Comment: “Thanks Karen for the information.” ~ That’s very nice. I’m selling my house next month and I’m definitely getting an RV now and I really appreciate your video and your ideas. Thank you.” ~ You’re welcome!
Comment: “Why are your eyes so close together?” ~ I’m not sure why God made me that way.
Comment: “First of all, BS on the fact that you quit to live in an RV. Second of all BS because calling your RV van life is a joke. It’s homeless.” ~ Thank you. You’re welcome.
FYI I’m Not A Video Editor Just Sharing My RV Life With You!
This comment kind of something that really made me hit pause and I was thinking, “okay, well, how should I be editing my videos? And then also it makes me think like, how are you editing your videos? And do you even make videos?”
Comment: “That was just on repeat of the same images and videos of the same thing weird.”
It makes me think that people forget that. I’m just a human being just like you and I’m just sharing my RV life and things that happen behind the scenes! I’m not a video editor.
And, I don’t want to say I don’t make money off some of the YouTube videos that I make and put it out there but I am going to say that I don’t get paid necessarily by you watching a video. It’s not like a dollar for dollar exchange. I just make the content and if YouTube puts ads on it and I make a little bit of money off of it, great.
I don’t sit here and make videos all day thinking, “oh this one’s going to make me a lot of money.” This is not. how I operate. I have a business and blogs and more than just my RV life out there, which I’ll get to in just a second.
Some of the other comments that people put out there…
Comment: “So trying to like this video endured her poor me whining about her own bad financial choices and she pulls out a Joyce Meyers mug. I’m done.”
I kind of thought what was funny was this person that commented.
- One, I always say it’s no face no namers that comment on my content and say really ugly things.
- But, also they commented about a part in this video where I said something about: “how we’ve changed out from the motorhome to the trailer and the van. And, it was a $200,000 RV exchange for much less.” So, the travel trailer was $30,000-$40,000 and the RV van was under $100,000.
Plus, the van is a 2012 or 2013 and the travel trailer is a used 2021. Both RVs were purchased used. Even, the motorhome we had was bought used.
We just did an exchange to better fit our lifestyle. Not because we’re poor or because we couldn’t afford it, But, yes the motorhome was getting expensive to just sit there in the trailer park and never go anywhere. So we traded it out for the trailer and the RV van.
I do read your comments.
That’s what I want you to know is I do read your comments. I do read these comments. Some of them make me smile and laugh and then some of them make me honestly kind of want to cry or roll my eyes or just think wow. That was extremely nice. I can’t help the way that God made me. I’m just trying to share things with you so hopefully you can learn and not make the same mistakes or maybe have a laugh at some of the things that I’ve made.
And also, I always think if I died tomorrow and no one ever got to see these videos that I’ve never shared with you or pictures that I’ve never shared with you or these updates, it would really break my heart.
I feel like I was born to blog and born to vlog and share things with you. By me not putting some of this content out, it’s been delayed and Kind of what I wanted to share with you!
This is behind the scenes of my RV life updates and catching up.
I was getting ready to edit my next batch of videos and after getting started, I kind of noticed they were out of whack. My whole timeline’s out of whack. My RV life’s out of whack and sometimes I wonder if people even know that…
We have a life outside of our RVs!
I have six fur babies, 5 dogs, 1 cat, and my man plus two RVs that we keep everyone in.
We recently traveled to five countries in five weeks. Jamaica, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas. We came back to Washington DC and Cuba. We went to Cuba. Not an RV. So, that was not an RV which as again, we have a life outside of our RV and this is not something that I would normally post on RVersity.
If you didn’t know, I’m also a blogger and vlogger and I have several other websites and YouTube channels. I try to keep like all my RV content on RVersity and not necessarily post anything else on my RV channel, although I’ve mentioned it at times and kind of vice versa, but I do talk on my personal Blogging Brandi YouTube channel about my RV life and say things like, “Hey, I don’t know if you’ve ever seen over at RVersity where I share about my RVs, etc…” I do kind of cross promote a little bit, kind of like how I just mentioned to you about how I have a whole other YouTube channel.
So, again, I have other things going on in my life.
But, RVersity is where I’ve tried to keep all my RV content and at times I’ve gotten behind. That’s really what’s happened. I’ve gotten behind on posting. I’ve even tried to combine things into one YouTube channel or one website at times and then it just gets kind of confusing and weird and so, again, I do try to cross promote but I do try to keep things separate as well.
I’m so far behind. I am tired as AF as they call it.
Sometimes wonder how I’m ever going to catch up, how I’m ever gonna give you all these updates or share all these trips and these things that we’ve been on. I don’t have a clue of how to organize everything or just drop everything on you and the past 10 years of my life kind of have something to do with that, which is what I’m going to share with you here in just a second. There’s just so many gaps in my content.
Can’t Tell My TRUE STORY!
I feel like I’ve been silenced and I can’t tell my true story, which if you haven’t seen my story about why I started out living in an RV, I’ve posted about that before. I have talked about that and I just feel like I haven’t really been able to be my true self.
NDA = Non-Disclosure Agreement
You know, I was forced to sign an NDA, which is a non disclosure agreement with one of the largest camping dealerships out there, RV dealerships. And that’s kind of put me in a little bit of a silence whenever I had my other vans.
I’ve had RV park landlords issues.
The landlord of where we live, or landlords, or the people in charge, I guess I’ll say. We’ve lived in the same RV park for five years. Six years something like that going on. I just feel like I’ve been silenced We’ve been threatened to get kicked out and I have so much just videos and content and things I can literally show you that’s been said to us or done to us I just feel like I don’t get to share the truth about my RV life.
Getting Started On Filling You In…
Things are so out of order and disorganized and I’m just not sure where to begin to be able to tell you everything that has happened, not just at the RV park, but in van life and the NDA disclosures and some other stuff that’s gone on in between.
When it comes to filling you in, I’m just trying to figure out the best way to do that. And so I was going to just start dropping all of our van life content because I haven’t shared the tour of our van, which I’ve been promising to people, and then we went through Las Vegas staying for a month gone on that crazy road trip!
YES, It’s been two years since I posted some content!
I still haven’t posted about our van or shared with you any of my van life adventures yet. I did share it on my Blogging Brandi channel, but I haven’t put it on my RVersity YouTube channel.
My content is just so far behind from when I recorded it that it literally has been two years since I have posted some content! I’ve never shared some videos out there like when we got the RV van! I just haven’t Put the tour out there.
Coming Soon…
I haven’t put any of our adventures out there of picking up the RV, which I’m going to put out next, probably after this video. So I can’t wait to share that. It’s a whole month that we spent in our RV once we purchased it. And then I finally did a tour of it.
So I have it all recorded. I just haven’t edited and posted yet. It’s a lot to edit and post videos. We flew one way across the country and then drove 2,000 miles back picking up our 2012 – 2013 Pleasure Way Excel TS RV Van and we spent a month living in it. We took this crazy road trip I mention!
๐ฅ Behind The Scenes of RV Van Life Vlogs + PreTour! [PLAYLIST]
We’ve had six RVs and we have two RVs currently.
In case you didn’t know about the biggest one of our RV Life updates… we sold the motorhome Now, We have a travel trailer and an RV van. But I’ve had six RVs. We have had the original travel trailer that I bought, then two RV vans, until we got the motorhome. Then we sold the motorhome, and we got another travel trailer and RV van.
1st RV = Stationary Travel Trailer
The travel trailer never moves. It stays stationary at an RV park. I’ve given a tour of it. Kind of like when you watch my content, you might think we just purchased our 2021 Puma Palomino travel trailer that stays stationed at the RV park. We call it the lake house and it’s near my family, but it’s on the other side of this lake that we’re on right now and it doesn’t move. We have no plan to move it. We bought it to leave it there!
2nd RV = Class B Van (for Traveling)
Again we have a second RV The van that we travel in is our Pleasure Way van. We picked up back in Oregon, Washington and it went on that crazy road trip I mentioned and took across the USA. We went all the way to Oregon, Washington on a one way flight with two dogs and a cat. (And now we’ve acquired four more after that). — which I haven’t given an official tour of it, but I gave a pre tour on my Blogging Brandi YouTube channel and I’m going to put the tour on here soon…
How & Why We Chose Our RVs
So, We traded out the big motorhome for two RVs and we travel in one of them.
FYI, all these RVs are used. So I know somebody commented about that.
WHY?
I’ve talked about why we chose our specific travel trailer in another video about the best RVs for living stationary in. And so you can watch that video after this video is over.
I also shared the adventures of picking up our travel trailer and kind of what went into that and then selling the motorhome and the process and how we stayed in an Airbnb.
It was actually. going through the process of picking up the travel trailer and then leaving it and then we had to go on these trips. I posted about this how we stayed in an Airbnb but while we were there is when NVington saw this Pleasure Way Van!
We were staying in these hotels kind of transitioning between RVs and he was saying things like “Oh my god, this is so hard to have the dogs and the cat and stay in these hotels and check in and check out and then we have to drag all our business stuff with us and our computers and clothes, etc…” Which is why we don’t like to go somewhere for just a weekend.
We Like To Travel For Long Periods Of Time
Usually we want to set up for a week or a month and stay somewhere. It just became really troubling. It was kind of funny that we passed by this RV and we even went down there recently to see if the RV was still there parked in this guy’s driveway and it was.
Also the orange van that we have. If you haven’t seen it in some of my videos, it’s the same van that we bought in the RV van. It’s just like an extended version, but it’s like a Ford Econo line van and our Orange Work Van is a diesel, but the RV Van is not diesel, it’s gas.
Anyways, there was a process switching between the RVs, and so I kind of shared that.

We have a HOME!
One of the other RV Life updates I wanted to share is that we have a home.
Sometimes I feel like people don’t know. RVing is just one part of my life and usually I’ll bounce between the condo, back in Atlanta and then the RV, which people have asked me where the RV is and I won’t tell you exactly where it’s at because I still just don’t feel comfortable telling you that yet, but eventually one day I will.
So… We bounce between Atlanta, Georgia and Alabama. A lot of times. That’s where one of the other RVs is kept at on a lake. So we might be at the condo, might be at the travel trailer in the RV park, or we might come over to the van, which we keep at the garage that’s outside of this trailer. Mobile home trailer.
And then my Mom, usually I might be at Nanny and Meme’s house, house. Really, my grandma has a house and my mom has a lake house aka a mobile home trailer. She takes care of my Grandma and they live together essentially.
We Live A Very Location Independent Lifestyle
But we hop around from place to place and we’re not really always at one place or the other. We also take trips in our van and we have our six fur babies with us.
I know you might get confused, but that’s really what’s, what’s going on in my life! I have so much to share. Sometimes I just feel torn between, do I share my RV life content and post over here? Or do I take a pause from it and share other parts of my life over here?
Because I also, I don’t just share about my RV life, I have businesses and reselling businesses and I’ve written a book and I’ve created apps and I have blogs and I make money from affiliate income and partnerships with brands and there’s so many other things that I do outside of sharing my RV life and my RV content that I feel people just don’t know. You can always go over to BloggingBrandi.Com to find out more! I have several other blogs that trickle down from that too much for this video.
So I just do, I feel torn between do I post about my RV life or do I post about the other side and I try to keep it separate but it does, it gets exhausting because It can be confusing and exhausting at times to tell you, “Hey, I just went on this trip. Okay, cool. Bye” And I wish my life was caught up. And again, I’m going to tell you why my life feels so far behind and kind of how it got behind.
We Rescue Dogs & Cats!
But we also rescue dogs and cats. That’s the other reason kind of why my life got behind and maybe why I haven’t posted about RV stuff, but…
Recently, I posted a video on my Blogging Brandi YouTube channel talking about how I started a blog for my dogs called Birdies DogHouse, and you can check them out. She hasn’t officially launched her first YouTube video yet, but she might by the time this video is out. I’m not sure. So, I blog about my dogs, and we have a cat. They have social media, so you can follow them @BirdiesDoghouse. Go to BirdiesDoghouse.Com to find out all about that.
But, again, it’s not something that I post on my RV content unless, we’re traveling in the van with them, taking a trip with them, or if we’re at the travel trailer, and I’m just Living life and taking care of my six fur babies! Usually so I’m not always just 100% focused on sharing my RV content about that.
I’ll just say when we’re not in the RV that I just kind of leave that life behind and go back to what people call normal life even though our life is not anything normal or I guess it’s normal for us.
I’m not a content making machine.
The other thing that I wanted to say especially to like the comments that people make is that I’m not a content making machine. I just wanted to share what I’ve learned with you and parts of my RV life with you.
It’s Just ME
However, while All this has been going on BTS and all these RV Life updates I’m sharing. I’d just like to remind people that I’m also ONLY ONE PERSON that runs my blog and my YouTube channel and my businesses. For the most part, I do outsource some things. I might say, “Hey, NVington take this video or picture”
But I make all the videos! I’m the one that edits all the content. I’m the one that responds to all your comments. I’m the one that makes all the social media posts. And while I have found ways to automate things, I feel like people just don’t realize that it’s just ME.
Things Have Gotten Behind
And so when you think about how everything’s gotten behind, sometimes I get exhausted talking about my RV life or there’s reasons why I’ve gotten exhausted over the years, which again, I’m going to share with you in a second.
I not only capture all the content, but I have to edit it and create something to make useful out of it, which is kind of what you see here, you know, and why I say I’ll tell my story and for it to all make sense.
I also Write BLOG POSTS, not just make videos
Sometimes I feel like people are waiting for me to post on my next YouTube video and the next update or the next thing going on, yet people have no idea that I have a blog and other things that I’ve shared.
I don’t just make videos. I also have a blog. Yeah, I have my YouTube channel. I want you to like my YouTube videos and subscribe to my YouTube channel and tap that little bell icon so you’re notified every time I publish. But I also would love for you to go read my blogs because just because I don’t post a YouTube video doesn’t mean that I’m not sharing a blog post and vice versa. I may not always post a YouTube video for every blog and I may not post a blog for every YouTube video if that makes sense.
So make sure that you’re subscribing to my YouTube channel AND checking out my blog content. And a really good way to keep up with all of that is to sign up for my RVersity email newsletter.
I have MULTIPLE BLOGS (outside of my RV blog)
Yeah, I make videos and I write blog posts. If you haven’t figured out, my name is “Blogging” Brandi. And so yeah, I’m a blogger, and I blog. And not just about my RV life, I have 8 or 10 different blogs. And some of them are public and some of them are not. Some of them I’ve talked about and shared.
And some of them people have no idea about because I’ve never told you about them. And I don’t have plans to tell anybody about some of them. But, if you do know about them and you found me through some of them, IYKYK I love that you’re here and that you found me.
Or some of them I’ll just say they haven’t officially launched yet. So some of them are out there and if you find them and you’ve come across me, great. That’s awesome and I love you. But some of them I’ve never said, “Hey, go check out this blog that I’ve created.” Because I’m just not ready to share them yet.
To be extremely clear, RVersity is just one of my blogs and one of my YouTube channels. It’s not a 100% of my full time commitment. Although I do spend a considerable amount of time on it, and I do spend a lot of time in my RVs, I have a man and I have six fur babies to take care of when I’m not blogging and vlogging or RVing.
Blogging & Vlogging
Which brings me to blogging and vlogging. Vlogging versus blogging. I want you to read my blogs and I want you to watch my videos and subscribe to my YouTube channel and like these videos and all the fun stuff that I’ve told you to do.
Don’t Forget To Follow Me On Social Media Too!
But, Let’s not forget that I also have social media and I have Instagram and Facebook and X formerly Twitter, and LinkedIn and Pinterest. (Hint, hint. You can follow me on all of those when you’re not following me on my other RV content. And I’ve shared links to all of these below this video in the links in the description so you can find all of those. So, you can find me @RVersity on pretty much every social media platform.
I’ve been focused on my Blog
Now, one of my other little RV Life updates I’ll mention that comes to mind over this period of time that I’ve been RVing is I’ve been more focused on posting YouTube videos, kind of like this one, versus blogging on my website. And so, that has changed over time and I’ve put a lot more time into My blogs and my website, especially since the beginning of this year and over the last several months.
Also, If you haven’t seen my story about why I decided to get into RVing, I did mention that in a prior video or post, but that story has even changed over time. And so I made a second version of that, but I didn’t post it on here. I kind of posted it on my Blogging Brandi content.
That’s why I say some of my stuff just feels so wishy washy and if I’m not in my RV, I just feel like I shouldn’t be posting on my RVersity YouTube Channel. Maybe that’s weird. Let me know in the comments below.
It takes a long time to make a video vs a blog post!
One thing though is that blogging versus vlogging, I’d like to add that it takes a significant amount of time to create a video, to capture the content, to record it, to make a video out of it and edit it and make it all cute and put little captions in it versus putting a blog out there. Not that my blogs don’t take a good amount of time too!
Also creating a video once it’s out there, I can’t go back and edit it. But a blog, I can put it out there, and then if somebody says something or if I think about something, I can change it. However, with a video, I can’t do that. It’s out there for the world to see and I can’t go back and change it and I can’t be like, oops, I forgot this thing. It’s just done!
My Thoughts On Hiring Help
I know. What you’re already thinking. Is “Brandi, why don’t you hire some help? Why don’t you hire somebody to help you?”
Let me tell you my thoughts on this…
I’ve done this before, okay? So, I already know that somebody is going to be asking me, “why don’t you have somebody edit your YouTube videos or edit your blog posts? Have you considered that?”
Teaching someone to edit like YOU takes time!
YES, I’ve considered that. But it does take time to have someone edit your videos. It takes almost the same amount of time, to put it all together to tell somebody, “Hey, edit this video and make this thing” as it does for me to have just made it.
By the time I’ve created that whole thing and said, “Hey, go make this video. Hey, here it all is.” They have taken away precious time from me. and what I could be doing. And so yeah, I guess sometimes I get naive and thinking, oh, I could just do it better or they’re not going to do the way that I want it.
It also takes MONEY
Also it’s not a dollar for dollar exchange. I feel like people don’t know that it’s not a dollar for dollar exchange of me creating a video or paying someone to create a video.
Saying “I’ll pay you a hundred bucks to make a video” and then I’ll make a hundred dollars from it. It doesn’t work that way. It’s not that it doesn’t. But I’m just saying, not every video that I publish, everybody cares about, kind of like this video. Some people might think, “oh, I really want to hear about those RV life updates” and other people are probably, thinking “blah, that’s boring. I only want to hear if she says how to do something or that I don’t really care about behind the scenes.”
Why I needed to make this video!
Either way, I just felt like I really needed to make this RV life updates video and tell you what’s going on. Because if I just keep posting random content, you’re going to be wondering, What’s going on?
What do you really have going on? So, this is the most updated video that I have out there that I haven’t posted. And so, again, I’m not in my RV right now, even though it’s literally outside. And, I just got a text from NVington telling me, “Hey, we’re going back to the RV tonight!”
My Life is ALL over the place & I’m praying for Property!
My RV’s are in two different places. My life is in different places. We’re looking for property, maybe an RV park, something along those lines. We really wanted this bed and breakfast we came across and it just hasn’t come to pass. Jesus, give us some property. Give us an RV park. Give us something that’s our own. I love you, and I do feel blessed.
But, yeah, that’s really what’s going on!
You still have to organize the content to give anyone else to help
Also, I can’t give someone A crappy sandwich, and expect them to make something out of it. So when people say oh hire somebody and get some help. I just don’t feel as if they would capture the content and create it the same way that I would. Not to say that I can’t train somebody or it can’t work out that way. But again, my RV life is not the only content that I have out there!
Money I Make From YouTube Doesn’t Justify The ROI
And yes, YouTube does pay me some money for making these videos, but it does take time to capture, edit, and create these videos, and then to upload them and post them consistently. When we’re not always in the RV, sometimes I just want to take a break from that and not just be posted by my RV. I do just feel like I have a backlog of content and I’m so tired as AF as I told you.
90% of my content has never seen the light of day. There are so many videos and things I feel: Oh, I’ve never been allowed to post, then some I think, Oh, I’m waiting for that day I can’t wait to post it, And then others I’m like, Oh, I just need to post it! Kind of where I feel things are at now.
What’s been holding me back?
Healthy Habits
I briefly mentioned this on my Blogging Brandi YouTube channel about some healthy habits that I made in my life and what has literally transform my life in business.
One of those things was that I stopped drinking alcohol. It was almost over a year ago now that I haven’t had any alcohol. I used to live with, I guess I would say an alcoholic or alcoholics in my life, or people that drank alcohol, a lot of different places. And, My life was always on eggshells. It was not good.
Technically, it’s kind of even what led me to live in my RV and have this safe space to get away from everything. If you haven’t seen my story, please watch that and you’ll be able to maybe fill in some of the pieces that were going on back when I filmed that. And again I even shared an updated second version of my story on my Blogging Brandi YouTube channel.
Quit Drinking
I stopped drinking and I removed people, places, and things from my life that involve drinking. And for those of you who are like me and you were maybe not necessarily the one with a problem, you’re kind of still in it with the people that have the problem or the people that are drinking.
Because, tell me if you can relate to this too in the comments.
Your entire life is impacted by them and I could have planned to edit a whole bunch of videos that day, but what will happen is that I might be forced to leave the house at 2 or 3am. with all my dogs in tow and all my belongings because somebody else wants to drink and scream and cuss and keep me awake or stay up late and it just really could disrupt my whole day. Your entire life. is impacted by someone else and their activities.
Having To Adjust To A “NEW Normal”
My life has changed a lot and While it might not be normal or completely peaceful. It’s a lot more peaceful than it was, and it was a lot more less chaotic than it was. And I’ll just say it’s a “new normal” And it has taken a lot of time to get used to and it takes time to adjust to. That’s in my RV life and all these transitions that have gone on.
So, it’s as if, I have had this other secret that’s been going on in between all these RV transitions and between all these RV trips that I feel like nobody knew. I’m sharing that with you right now, is that alcohol was a huge factor in why my video content became delayed or why I didn’t want to share it or why I was scared to share it or just It impacted it in some kind of way.
My Dad Was Mysteriously Paralyzed
Another RV life update that happened this year that nobody knows about or very few people is that my Dad was mysteriously paralyzed. I just want to point out things that I almost forget because they’ve become so normal behind the scenes in my life.
The RV Van Has Been A Blessing
I’m thankful for my RV van because it became (I’m trying really hard not to cry when I tell you this) but…
I just remember sitting there and getting a call. When we were at the travel trailer from my Dad earlier this year, that he was in the hospital. And he couldn’t feel his legs anymore. At first they didn’t know what it was, but they ran a bunch of tests on him.
He started to tell us “Hey, you know, my life might not be the same anymore. And I’m at the hospital and They don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
Guillain-Barrรฉ syndrome.
He had what was called Guillain-Barrรฉ syndrome. And I’m not even sure if it’s pronounced like that, but it’s a very rare disease, yet has seemed to become more common over these last couple years. Everybody can kind of imagine maybe what has led up to these things.
But, It caused him to lose all of his bodily functions, and he couldn’t do anything. He had to relearn how to walk, how to poop, how to pee, how to eat, how to do everything again. Like, his body didn’t know how to do those things. It’s like he was a little baby having to learn everything over again.
Created Stress In The Family
And it tore apart parts of our family, the way that things were handled. It’s just caused me to have a lot of sleepless nights that I just haven’t shared with you here. Also, sometimes it’s hard to share things when you’re going through it versus after it’s already done. It’s a little bit easier to share those videos and things and come from a different point of view than when you’re actually going through it.
Delayed My Business & Life Plans
And it’s just it, it impacted a lot of things in my business, in my life, and timing that happened. And I know you can’t ever change the timing of those things, but it did cause things to be pushed off or pushed back and not happen.
This was several months, and he’s just now kind of started to get back to himself and be able to walk again. And I don’t want to say talk, but not talk gibberish. Because at one point he was talking complete gibberish, like the FBI had abducted him and then they gave him a burger and took him to a bar or something like that. It was just very bizarre. Just imagine your parent losing all consciousness of who they were in their life and them not being themselves and it happening overnight!
I’m, so glad that we had the van and that we were able to take all the dogs And just go sit outside the hospital with them and not to have someone to have to watch them.
Why do we have so many RVs + Fur Babies?
So a lot of people are always asking “oh, you know, why do you have all those RVs?” And it’s honestly because our dogs (and cat) are our fur babies! Those are our babies!
If you haven’t watched my story about why I even started RVing part of it is because we lost our child! We made a terrible decision and we had an abortion! We got rid of her, our child. And that’s what led me to RV was to go through this healing process. (I’m ugly crying right now)
But rescuing these animals has become a form of healing. RVing and traveling has become a form of healing. We lost animals, we lost our child. And so it’s just, it’s been hard to share all of that with you. When we go through it.
Yet, It was nice to have the van to experience these things in with my Dad becoming paralyzed. It’s like having our life on wheels and so we were able to take the business and the dogs and not have to call somebody and have everybody be watched and it was just nice to have that. That’s another reason why we bought the van was to be able to do those things in.
Forced To Create A Course & Give FREE Coaching Calls
The other RV life update that I want to say is I feel as if I was forced to create a course in these free coaching calls. So if you’ve watched a lot of my videos in the past, you probably heard me talk about joining RVersity and taking my course and booking calls with me. I almost feel I was forced to detour the way that I posted my content and wanted to share my RV life with you and how other RVers have shared their RV life with you and why everything’s still delayed is because of bad business advice that I received.
Getting Coerced Into Courses + Coaching
I’ve mentioned this in a prior video, I think I titled it, I’m sorry, but even then when I posted that video things weren’t exactly where I wanted them to go and I don’t think they’ll ever be like exactly where you want them to go but this business coach kind of secretly told me in a few words or less. They Kind of sold me on their product is what I feel like, and maybe they didn’t know what their product was at the time, but they told me, “oh, you create this course about one thing and you can’t talk about anything else and you really want to share this one thing and how it transformed your life. And like, if you could talk about one thing forever, what would it be?“
And I was just like, oh, you know, I guess I’d want to share about my RV life because that’s, you know, what I’m doing right now. But there’s so many other things. There’s my dogs and my relationship and this whole thing that I’ve gone through with My child and alcohol and so many other things that you couldn’t put into just RV life and one course and one thing that I want to sell or talk about.
Forced To Create Content The Didn’t Feel Authentic To My Brand
I feel like I was forced to create this content around selling a course instead of just sharing my RV life and letting people absorb that. That was just the beginning of what I like to call my bumpy ride, but the moral of the story is don’t take Bad business advice or business advice from people that are not doing the thing that you want to do.
I travel and move and the person that I took advice from, they don’t move. They have no plans to travel. They said something like, oh, when I move, my business is all up in roars, so I really don’t move. And also, this person was like, oh, don’t share all about your RV life. You only need to share things that direct people to go buy from you.
So, all of my content, although it teaches people something, I don’t want to say it had an underlying meaning. I just want to say that I always would direct them “Not just sign up for my email list, but I’d be like, you know, get this download or buy this thing from me, join my course, book a call with me. And not that you can’t still do some of those things, but that stuff is transitioning. And I just want to tell you that.
BAD Business Advice
What would happen though is…. I was taking advice from this person and they weren’t even doing the thing that I wanted to do. They weren’t an RVer, didn’t run like a mobile business, didn’t have a kid, or they didn’t have the same relationship With children and puppies and animals that I did and I can’t tell you how many relationships I feel like that I burned and lost and I’ll never get back because of this I guess person or bad business advice that I took.
Wasted Time & Money Giving Myself Away For FREE
I also wasted a lot of time and gave a lot of my time away for free. This person told me, they didn’t say do this, but they would literally kind of tell me plan my life around “these coaching calls” And so I’ll be pulling my RV over, take some phone calls in my RV to sell them on an online course. And the calls were FREE! People sometimes wouldn’t even show up for these calls because they’re free. Why do you show up for something for free? Why do you care? You know, it’s like they book it and they forget that I’m a human being and I have a life and a business and things to run.
So, if it’s ever been you and you didn’t show up for a call or you know, you booked your call with me, you didn’t buy something, just know that I literally took a break from my life to take that phone call with you or to spend that time with you!
Took Time Away From EVERYTHING ELSE
You know by me taking time even now to make this video for you Just remember that I’m NOT doing something else!
But, You know I might make some money from people watching this YouTube video if I turn on the ads on it or I might make Some money if somebody goes and clicks on something else that I talk about in this video! Yet, I just want you to know that My whole life does not surround around YouTube.
Getting Sidetracked
I feel like I got sidetracked there…
But all my content was around booking these calls or selling this course. And then I just kind of, I feel like I pissed my family off. I was just too exhausted sometimes to enjoy even the RV trips that we were on.It’s as if I’m on this RV trip and I can’t even enjoy it because I’m taking these calls and they’re not booking the course. And so I’ve taken away time and money from my family and my RV life for these people that aren’t even gonna buy and people that weren’t even ever planning to buy. Sometimes I feel like people just wasted my time. Not everybody, but some people.
Paywalling MY Content
That’s when I started to paywall a lot of my content, my courses, and come up with this RV membership option. I’ve tested all kinds of ways to make money from my content. And I’ll have to say while creating RV online courses and memberships and coaching opportunities is very lucrative, it’s also very time consuming. and can be expensive.
So, Unless someone pays or buys that thing or even if they if they don’t buy that thing It kind of puts a damper on things or you know, maybe I’m having to sell this course over here So I can’t sell the membership or maybe I’m thinking oh, let me just combine these things! And so there’s all these things that I’ve made money doing but they just become exhausting!
My BEST Content is LOCKED UP
And so then what I felt is that some of my best work is locked behind closed doors and so I paywalled all of my content! Now, Google can’t find me, brand names that I mentioned can’t find me.
If I keep all my content locked up and paywalled, even some of my affiliate partnerships are locked up. I can’t share those out there because I can’t put their links out there behind paywalled content. It’s like, oh yeah, buy my course and go to my members only area and you can visit this thing.
Yeah, but then Google can’t find me and no one else. It just makes this trickle effect. It’s like the devil’s advocate. You gotta pick one or the other. You know, how you’re gonna make your money or do your content in some sense.
Hate Selling
I hate selling, even though I’m really good at selling. And excellent at teaching people and telling people to buy things.
So I don’t have a problem with selling. It’s what I’m selling and my passion for it. Once you have this product to sell, then you have to sell it to people, and so then you’ve also must take time to update the product. Not only are you out there saying, hey, buy my product. Then you have to answer the questions from the people and it’s like you’re providing this customer service for the product.
Not Trying To Provide 24/7 Customer Service
And I’m not trying to provide customer service and be on phone calls. I was on phone calls every week. I would take two phone calls a week. Not only was I taking these coaching calls to get people to buy, selling the product. of 45 minutes each. Then I’m on these other calls taking those and updating content.
It’s this is catch 22. I’m selling the thing and then I’m providing the calls for the thing. It gets exhausting just living my life on phone calls when I’m trying to live my RV or live my life traveling or just spending time with my family causes a detour in many things that I have going on.
Tired Of Detouring My Life, Content & Business
Again, I hate selling. And if you want to make money, you really have to have a passion for it. And so once you’ve created this product and this level of service, You provide, I almost feel even with my membership that people want this other thing. Like they want ME. And I don’t want to say you don’t get me. I just want to say I don’t want to give that to you.
I don’t want to spend my time on phone calls with people 24/7 every week. I mean, I don’t want to say unless they’re paying me, but even then, I don’t, that’s not what I want to do 24/7 with my time. I do have those things as options that are out there still, but I just, really want to use my time in the best way possible and not all of that surrounds my RV life.
Again, I’m not trying to provide customer service or detour my travel arrangements anymore to keep up with this like product or investment type!
My plan for catching up.
You’re probably thinking, “okay, Brandi, well, what’s your plan for catching up?”
What is, my plan for catching up and what does all this mean? My content, my website, my online courses, my YouTube channel, it’s all changing! There are a lot of things that are not behind a paywall anymore that maybe you don’t know about and I’ve spent a lot of time this year Reposting on my blog and my website!
Dealing with Interruptions
I cannot tell you how many times I have been interrupted trying to Write and record this for you To be able to give you these RV life updates. Again, why I’m even here, not in my RV.
I was just interrupted even trying to record this video for you when I told you I was staying here at the lake house, Nanny and Meme’s trailer and the roof started blowing off outside, so I had to go do a roof repair.
I even had a phone call in between this and I had to go pick up the dogs and the dog had a dental appointment and there’s so much that I’ve been trying to get out to you.
Dog Minivan Renovation Project (to help move everyone around)
And then, We’ve been working on another project, which is our dog minivan renovation project. When we’re not RVing, we have to be able to get the dogs from place to place. And we do take the dogs and the cat with us. We have six fur babies, five dogs, one cat. And we treat them like our kids, so we take them everywhere.
But, since we are not always in the RVs or when we’re traveling from RV to RV or into the city or Nanny and Meme’s. We want to be able to have them with us and so we’ve been dog-ifying this 1993 Dodge Caravan that we went to Ohio to get over the past couple of weeks and you’re kind of like the first person to see that so I was trying to put it together and put it on social media and on my other YouTube channel but that’s something that we’ve been working on outside of RV life.
It actually will be extremely helpful to my life. To have the Minivan vs my 2 seater Smart Car to get around in!
Catching Up On Content
So that’s been another one of my RV life updates! But in terms of my plan for catching up on my content, where things are at in my life and getting things to you. I’m sorry if everything seems all over the place, but my content, my website, my online courses, my YouTube channel is all changing!
Removing The Paywall
There’s a lot that was behind a paywall that’s not behind a paywall now. And I’ve spent most of this year on my blog and my website over on RVersity as well as all my others trying to update the blog content and the website content before re-releasing it or saying, “hey, go look at it” — If you’ve ever gone and looked at it, then you would know that things are changing, but I haven’t made like huge announcements about it yet.
Getting Organized & Repositioning
I’ve been working on getting organized, repositioning my brand, my content, everything, and not just now, but I’ve been kind of doing this throughout the year and that’s why A lot of my YouTube videos have been silenced or not being posted or I’ve not published as much, should I say.
So, I have actually been publishing blog posts, just not YouTube videos, and why I say go check out my blog posts.
The Dilemma I’m In
But, that has also put me in a dilemma because I know that people want to see things like my van tour and I haven’t actually shown that yet, at least on this channel. I talked about that I showed a pre tour on my Blogging Brandi YouTube channel and it’s been almost two years since we picked up the van.
I think it’s kind of weird to show like the end before we show the beginning, as in the picking up of the van before we said “oh hey guys here it’s all decked out now let me show you everything we did to it.” ~ But if you don’t think that’s weird then let me know however my plan was to kind of start releasing that content in the way that it happened.
So some of the videos that I just released kind of happened after the fact or before the other video if that makes sense. Yet, When I was looking at the content I was editing I just didn’t like it and I really wanted things to unfold the way that they’ve happened but I’ve also kind of thought about maybe my content being, oh this is the series one and here’s series two and like why can’t I have that in between on my Network or my YouTube channel.
There Are So Many GAPS In My Content
I just really wanted to be real with you in this RV life updates video. I just feel like there’s gaps in between my content. I really just wanted to fill you in which is why I wanted to make this video. There’s a lot of things that you miss and I’m trying to figure it all out. I’m trying to figure out how to post everything.
My life goes really fast and things have happened really fast and some of the things I told you have held me back from posting my content or publishing or even recording or wanting to release things. I wish I could change how things are played out, but that’s just my story. So that’s what’s happened.
I’ve let others or situations dictate my YouTube channel, my blog, my website, my social media. Things that I just haven’t told you. Why I say, you know, make sure you like this video and subscribe to my channel and tap that little bell icon so you’re notified every time I publish, but also go check out my blogs!
Putting All The Puzzle Pieces Together
I’m working on my content little by little and trying to get that out. In my head, like, I see where it’s going. I can’t show that to you yet. Think about if you were posting all the pieces and you’ve got all these puzzle pieces laid out, but you haven’t flipped them over and put all the puzzle together yet.
I have a lot of videos recorded. I just haven’t posted them yet. There’s a certain way that things should. play out. And so I’m working on that. Other people might be thinking “oh, she’s all over the place and she doesn’t know what she’s doing.” But in the long run, you’re gonna look back and be saying “Wow, that makes sense now! I get why she did it that way.”
But I just kind of want to let things unfold the way that, I see them and just see what happens and then I’ll just correct course along the way. So, I really don’t have a definite plan to say this is step one, step two, step three, even though I do see where things are going in my head and how I want things to be.
Reading your comments.
Back to reading your comments. I do read your comments. And why I want you to tell me your feelings about this video and the things that I’m talking about. And even if you comment along throughout this video, rewind this video, replay this video, and re watch it, and comment along to the things that I’m telling you.
Because I always think it’s strange when people leave comments saying “she” and “her” but they don’t talk to “ME” I’m always thinking you do know it’s my video that you’re commenting on, but you’re talking to everyone else out there? ~ I think it’s kind of funny.
And I just wanted to remind you that I do read all of your comments. I may not always respond to them. Sometimes I just am not in a place to respond to them and saying I’m going to respond to it later. Or it might be 3am or 5am when I’m reading something. And so, I Don’t always respond to stuff especially if I’m on the go.
Responding To Your Comments
However, I’m trying to get better about responding to your comments. I’m, sorry if I haven’t responded, but I do love reading your comments, which is why I say please please please comment below this video and let me know your thoughts on these videos and this content and to make sure that you’re checking the description below this video so that you’re not missing out on the things that I’m saying and a lot of this is on RVersity.com.
