My First Time In An RV
My First Time In An RV. I thought this was funny enough to share. Our friend Chris is into camping, but never been in a travel trailer or motorhome. I was curious to know what questions this RV newbie might have about RV living and first time rving. | Just another day of Van Life Camping With Chris an RV Beginner!

00:00:00 Chris, what do you think about my house? Well, I like to say that my first time being in this, it was very impressive and I feel like it has all of the amenities that you need. Shower, bathroom. We have a microwave here as well. Uh, we have a refrigerator so we can put drinks in there. Got Our full sink, our full oven stove. Um, so we can cook whatever we want, clean it. And then we have an area to do dishes. Chris knows how to cook. He likes to camp. So what’s your initial thoughts of the RV life?
00:00:42 I think it’s great. I think anyone that is interested in going, you know on a cross cross country trip. So would you trade it in your backpack for an RV? Yes, I would. You know that the awning goes out? So you can actually put the awning out and it can go over neath your tent or we can actually buy the little cover that goes out there and you can sleep inside. You could technically be attached. We have a room. Okay. So basically you’re saying that I wouldn’t need my rain fly because it’s its own rain
00:01:17 fly. Unless it’s windy though, and we have to, it comes in, it’s actually a wind sensor. So it will sense, the wind and it will come in if it’s too windy. Nice. Yeah, I don’t believe I’ve seen one of those so that’s something new right there. The vent in the back does the same thing. Okay. that’s what’s up. Well that’s good. Well my camera is dying so I just wanted to get some thoughts on camera because everybody loves my RV and I’m trying to convince everybody to get an RV. It’s awesome folks.
00:01:50 Let me turn this air down. I actually think this spot right here is a little better than that. Yeah. You can see my head. You can see that I’m six three folks. Okay. We want to go ahead right off the bat and let you know if you are tall, are you gonna hit your head like in a typical van? And here’s your answer. I’m standing up straight and I still got about, let me see. I feel like, hold on, I’m on back up a little bit. Give you a real, okay. It’s right. Look, there’s about an inch still to go up.
00:02:23 I’m six three six and like a half. Or I don’t know, you get the point. I think at Six five you’re still good. Even if you had to kind of do a little quick dip. You know Like that under a couple areas. So what questions were you asking me? So my friend, AJ and I are talking about, What happened to Randy? Oh, Randy could come but remember we want to umm we got different. Yep. So he’s in another episode. Oh, Randy like to kill animals? No, Randy likes the hunt. He does like the park and camp, which is a perfect situation for the Mercedes sprinter.
00:02:57 Okay, and that’s what we’re gonna do. I’m just kidding. So, uh, so what’s up with AJ? So AJ is another backpacker. And who knows, maybe there could be three but I feel like it’s better. You said for two, a family of two together. Maybe a dog or a child something small extra. I just meant in here there’s only about two people that would normally travel. But, If people were sleeping outside you could have more people. Like if you’re in a camp or somewhere where you’re camping or boondocking where you can
00:03:33 set up, then people can sleep outside. It’s just in here, the bed only has. It’s only a bed to fit two people. Nice. Oh yeah, that makes sense if you’re sleeping in here. So in our situation, I mean you already sleep outside, we’d just been sleeping in our car. For our,, yeah. Basically we have a kitchen and a bathroom and, right, exactly. So you’d have the amenities right next to you, but you can still camp and that’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna do a camp trip outside of the van. We’re gonna have a fire going and we’re going to do all the normal things we would do.
00:03:58 Are we going to have access to this Mercedes sprinter van. It’s perfect for, like we said, backpacking cross country. And where’s the first place you would go? Well for a test run, I would go somewhere that I’m comfortable with north Georgia, like somewhere along the Appalachian trail. They have good a RV Park? Have you ever been to the RV parks? Is that where you camp? Yeah, I’ve driven by them. Oh, Naveen’s here. I’m driven by the RV parks. I haven’t stopped at them, but when I’ve ridden with a friend, we either park or I drive when
00:04:32 I park and then we hike. Or we back out a few miles. What up? But um in this situation, we’re going to take the Mercedes Sprinter Van for the third time I think I’ve said With us to show you how profitable we’re going to be with access to this and where else you can go beyond where you would normally be able to go because you have this. Hold on Naveen want to say hey. Oh my God. Naveen always. Hey! Naveen always photo bombs. Yeah, so we’re in the a class b sprinter RV right now. Class b actually got, yeah, yeah.
00:05:04 Class B sprinter RV. Yeah, This is what that is, right? Yeah. We’re in the class b Sprinter, RV. We actually have three people standing up in here. It’s pretty comfortable. Yeah how tall are you? I’m about. You want me to say the truth or lie? Lie. I always tell them about the little taller. You know what I mean? I wasn’t adding any inches. Oh, sorry. I’m about six foot. You know what I mean? Right on the Edge. But, Chris is a little taller than I am. Okay, if we were Trying to sell this RV, What would the selling points, oh, would you do
00:05:33 the air back on? Oh my gosh. Is that a smoke alarm? There’s a smoke alarm and I forgot to mention that right above the camera. Yes, that’s a smoke alarm. Can we get the smoke alarm on there? On the camera? I just want them to know that the smoke alarm, all of them have smoke alarm. Well you get what I’m saying? Some people may have that question. The crazy thing is about this smoke alarms is that they’re hooked to electricity. So, um, if the electricity or the battery in here dies, then you’ll die too.
00:06:03 That’s good, goog to know. Oh yeah. We were trying to sell this thing. Okay. As a business owner, what would you, uh, what, what’s some selling points? We could sell this thing? We’ve got to get rid of this. That’s the goal. We have to get rid of this in like what? They told us we have to get rid of it by October 1st so our goal is to get rid of this quickly. We should just Set it on fire. Okay. That’s called insurance fraud. We’ll have to cut that. Dang, So I need to plan a trip before then? Okay!
00:06:37 Is that the cut off October 1st? Yeah. How you like this thing? Oh, I’ll take it right now. It’s pretty tight on. Yeah. Okay. How much is it for a month if you had to just roundabout for someone without, without the car in it. Um Huh. I don’t know how much the payments would’ve been. Let’s say great credit, but no down payment or vice versa. High down payment. I mean what do you think the payments on this are a month? Well, the payment on this thing is like eight 50 a month. I know. How about you got a house for eight 50 so you can pick up and move and go where you
00:07:09 want. Whoa. Oh yeah. Sorry. We’ll just switch sides. No, we’ve got to delete that. Cause children will be watching this as well because families can travel, travel. Um, you know, I can see a family of four traveling and maybe two inside sleeping and two outside in their tent, you know, four can go. Just have a seat Chris. What are we doing? Yeah, What are we doing? We’re just chatting. No, we’re just doing some preliminary notes for, but yeah, this, this thing right here. Slides out Chris. That’s awesome.
00:07:42 It slides all the way back. So then you have nicer room here and then you remove this and then You pop this open right here. And then this is the bed actually it just comes right out. Does it stay up pretty high or it’s not, it’s pretty high. You Actually have a lot more room when we pop this out. It just fold down and rest on this right here. Oh yeah, that’s awesome. Yeah man. Okay, so other than insurance fraud, anybody have any other ideas? On how to sell it? Oh, I’m sorry. [inaudible] oh, you got to do both of them with two fingers.
00:08:16 Oh, two sorry. So can we, uh, show the people watching this extra fold up? Sure. Alright vanna white. We’re cooking and we have, it’s kind of a, it’s a nice cooking area. But you may need some extra space. This is folded down and it just folds up and snaps into place watch. Boom look got em. But if we’re filleting fish, if we are cutting vegetables, me. You fill me? Okay. Folds back Really easy to, sorry. It’s already gone. Can’t even see it. Boom. Got em. Okay. So what are we doing? We’re going to drop this off.
00:09:08 Yeah. So are you dropping him off? No I’m going to get him an uber. So we have to go to where? Alpharetta uh, yeah, you gotta go to Alpharetta, but we’re going to go to Woodstock and drop this thing off first and then go to Alpharetta Pick up the car. They haven’t called me on the R8, so hopefully they’re finding a bunch of beep wrong so they can fix it. Thanks. This is how we plan. [inaudible] We plan for beep to go wrong. Galant just got his R8. He needs to slow his roll. Yeah, the car is right here.
00:09:43 What do you have multiple addresses. Oh my gosh. You don’t know your address. No I got ti. You have to look your address up on your watch? No, I sent my friend heading back home now cause he’s gonna be around one 30. I thought you were having to look your address up. No my addresse is three three, five. Oh this is nice. Is that still recording? Yeah, see you have to prep me for these things. I’m over here acting retarded. West, you can just do a capital w next word. Decatur, Georgia. Decatur where it’s greater.
00:10:26 Well the place where it is greater. that’s were I um rest my head at night. Can we keep all of the Oh my God. You can’t have me on camera. Sorry. Well, You got to definitely go back and edit some of that. That’s not the selling points of the RVs. I didn’t say any of that. That’s not the selling point. That’s our solar reflector. That actually my mom recommends those. Oh yeah that totally works. I told them this is nice so you can pull up like the blinding. I want to just shut it like that. It’s going to come up.
00:11:09 The solar reflector will protect your, the inside of the, uh, you know, the van so you won’t get, uh, sun exposure damaged or whatnot. You know, so you pull this back down and you don’t want it and you’ve got shade. So easy look that quick. And is it four by four? No. Does it know this? This isn’t, but it’s probably so they make a four by four and a one seven 70m options is 70A at 70 x. This is the only unit you can’t option out as much. Well this one’s nice. It’s already fully loaded. For the ERA line.
00:11:48 This is the top of the line. There’s nothing above this and there’s not many options. I think the only thing you can add is the mobile mobile eye and something else. The um, the aluminum balanced panel or something like that. Yeah man you should come out one time. Yeah. Dude on this thing. It’s pretty tight. Yeah. I appreciate it man. I’m Actually serious, look, even look, you know, with the bed down and two people sleep in here like we’re connected actually could have some fun there. You know what I mean?
00:12:16 Honestly, somebody who wants to sleep in a tent, somebody sleep on it. Well that’s one time I used those. Good. How are you still getting this? [inaudible] CV is right here. I didn’t even say this earlier. It was like in plain view. There’s still a little secrets and things I’m finding that you can utilize on your trip. And right here they was brought to my attention. You can lay a sleeping bag right here and someone that’s six, five can lay out comfortably. Like here, I know if you backpack on the regular, you have your air mattress or the airbags,
00:12:47 it goes under your sleeping bag. You can put down on your perfect. Yeah, two kids too. And then the grownups right here like it’s perfect. We got four, we got a family of four and we got two animals in here. Three animals. And we’re fine. Yeah. In a spring van that is like nondescript and very discreet. As you know, wherever you park it, it doesn’t look like, you know something that is a giant RV, you know? But alright, I know how you can keep this. We’ll get the shower fixed. I’ll pay half the bill per month and we’ll just keep it and then I may only use it like
00:13:21 twice. I pay $850 then $100 for insurance. I won’t do anything weird in here except for Put some deer meat on that grill right there boy Gosh Damn, deer meat. Nah. Let’s see. We would cook outside, bring our portable grill. We just leave this in here perfect. Just in case. We can use this for breakfast in the morning, something real lite. We’re going to have a grill right outside and not using our camp site and just use all your own stuff. Yeah, exactly. I have my own fan? We actually have a fan that we convert.
00:14:19 It’s a regular fan for the house, but our converted here. Okay. You have to hold this camera, he’s about to pull up. We’ll have to do it until next time. Bye, Chris [inaudible] all right, ready? You like that?
